Wow!! What an amazing day! I can’t even put into words all the emotions I’m feeling. To see all the kiddos have fun and not have a care in the world. Just truly melts my heart.
I think the one thing that stood out was how the parents felt. So many of them expressed how happy they felt to be around one that wouldn’t judge them or look at them wide eyed. They were so happy they came and found a community that accepts them.
Big thanks to all the family, friends and small businesses that made this event possible.
Every single thing was donated. The kids were so excited to open their bags and eat all their goodies and play with their kinetic sand and put their shirts on! It was beautiful to see.
Also wanted to shout out the @cityofmonrovia @monroviapolicedepartment @monrovia_fire_rescue @monrovialibrary for putting on their first Autism Sensory event!
As Isaac and I sat down the night of the event to talk about how the day went, Elijah came up and gave me a big hug and kiss. He may not say much but I know he was thanking mama for his party. 💙
💙 About 1 in 22
or 4.6% of 4-year-old children were identified with ASD in 2020.
💙 About 1 in 22 families are experiencing the struggles, hardship, heartache, frustration of taking care of their child or children who are on the Autism Spectrum, not because we think it’s a burden but because we see the struggles, heartache, and frustration that are children face and are not able to express.
As I wiped my happy tears away… Isaac and I said “we have to keep this going”
So here’s to next year in hopes to help more kids and parents! We know this is just a small drop in the bucket of what we can do for these kids. This year it’s 10 kids…. Who knows… Maybe next year it’s 20 And the year after that it’s 50 And the year after that it’s 100!!! This event isn’t just for the kids but for the families who may feel like they are alone, or feel like they are the only ones feeling the struggles, hardship, heartache, and frustration. This event is for them too! We are not alone, and we can be there for each other. 💙 Please give these amazing , generous shops a follow! @thecraftspot_nv
·A Message from Elijah's Daddy, Isaac Lopez
Feeling beyond blessed and grateful. I couldn’t have imagined yesterday’s event to go any better. It was so amazing to see these great kids have such a fun time and just be themselves. The one thing that really struck my heart was having many of the parents say they were so thankful to be able to be at an event and feel comfortable and in a judgement free zone. Everyone with a special needs kid knows exactly how much a special moment like that is. I also want to thank all the small business vendors, family and amazing friends who donated crafts, time, and money to make this event possible. We literally could not have done it without you. From the bottom of our hearts THANK YOU. Also a special thanks to @ema._.designs and family, & @pauline.esguerra@esguerrashannon for all the help before, during, & after the event. You’re hired for next year!🤣. Lastly big thank you to @monroviapolicedepartment@monrovia_fire_rescue@dreambigchildrenscenter , AST, Wonder Dog Ranch, and CERT for the Public Safety Sensory event they put on as well yesterday. The kids were beyond ecstatic with all the vehicles, crafts and doggies that were there. Community events like this go a long way in bringing out awareness for our little Spectrum Warriors.
